Circuit Training
Circuit Training one of the many things that makes Artistic Dance so unique. Instead of spending so much time going across the floor - waiting your turn - going across again, the dancers spend at least 10-15 mins of class "in the circuit" where they are continuously dancing. Dance is not something you can easily practice at home and yet practicing is the only way to instill much needed muscle memory.
When dancers are "in the circuit" they:
When dancers are "in the circuit" they:
- Practice steps they have been learning in class
- Enjoy the endorphins produced from continuous exercise
- Get one on one attention from the teacher without delaying other dancers from practicing
- GROW INTO BETTER DANCERS!
Come in and see this unique and effective approach to your dancers' training!

Meet Kristin Brown
Kristin Brown:
My name is Kristin Brown and I have a BA in Dance from Brigham Young University. I have had 18 years of dance experience and specialize in contemporary, modern, ballet, tap, and jazz. I have taught dancers of all ages and stages in studio, conservatory and university settings, as well as teaching under-privelged communities nationally and internationally.
I grew up doing competitions with Dance Educator’s of America where our company always received high awards and recognition. I have danced on the Timpanogos High School Dance Team, as dancer for the Utah Flash Basketball Team, on BYU’s Foot Poetry (tap company), and as president and soloist of BYU’s Contemporary Dance Theatre (CDT).
One of my favorite roles was performing "Angelitos Negros" as the chosen soloist for dance legend and renowned choreographer Donald McKayle. I continue to expand my training by attending workshops, intensives and other professional teaching and performing opportunities. Some of my favorites have been with: San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Paul Taylor - Patrick Corbin and Maureen Mansfield Kaddar, Complexions Contemporary Ballet - Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson.
I love working at Artistic Dance. One of my greatest passions is motivating and inspire the children I work with. I encourage personal
development through self-expression and the building of self-esteem. I do this
by motivating children to expand their abilities and reinforcing proper technique.
I am a positive person and believe that dance should be both enriching and
enjoyable.

Stretch Club!!
For the next 3 months we will be introducing a program called Stretch Club. This is something that I used during my time dancing professionally in California. It is designed to dramatically improve flexibility in dancers and doesn't take more than about 20 mins, 3 x week.
Incentives!
Dancers who complete this challenge 3 x week for 1 month they will
receive a free $10 snack card.
Dancers who complete this challenge 3 x week for 3 months will
be invited to a
stretch club party
with Artistic Dance teachers!
Why Stretch Club?
We spend way too much class time stretching! Stretching takes time and when dancers take more personal responsibility to stretch at home, they will grow leaps and bounds in class.

Why does ARTISTRY in dance matter?
In a world that seems increasingly flooded with half-naked, sensual, and competitive dance it may be better to ask the question - why has the artistry in dance disappeared?
We are programmed to move!
I have parents come into the studio every week and tell me that they have a child that loves to dance and that with or without music they are dancing all over the house. I LOVE this! It reminds me of the very human need we have to move, to dance even. With three little girls of my own, I know that dance is something that is part of them. I haven't HAD to teach them. They just love to dance. They are uninhibited humans who are doing what we are all programmed to do. (I challenge you to move a little more yourself - even if only in your kitchen - it makes dinnertime so much nicer!)
As parents we are looking for an environment that will foster that love for movement, for twirling, for letting out the emotions of life through movement. We want a place that we can trust will provide dance in a way that fulfills this very human need to move, help prepare them for dancing in the future if they want, and most of all contribute positively to the person we are helping our children become.
And THAT is why Artistry matters!
Artistry takes dance back from the world of competition and "look how amazing I am", to "look how incredible the human body is," "look how an artistic combination of music and dance can touch, heal or lift your soul". And look at who I am becoming as I create, interpret, expand, connect and perfect. Artistry in dance is about seeing past the individual, seeing past the tricks, and finding the human expression that connects us to each other.
When a dancer realizes that she is more than just a "show up and take class" dancer, but a creative and performing artist, it as if she's been given wings. She can harness that human dancing spirit, combine it with technical excellence, and soar. Artistry is what keeps dancers dancing. It is what keeps audiences spell bound. And it is what we are all about here at Artistic Dance - our unique trademark.
Come soar with us. It's exhilarating.
